Health is a journey, it starts now.
Many people find themselves feeling trapped in their bodies, feeling their lives are stuck because they are bogged down by health challenges, or limited because their body isn’t working the way that it should. One of our greatest joys is when we get to see patients experience the freedom of health. We love to see our patients light up, try something new, get back to doing something they love, and be able to live their lives to the fullest because they are finally regaining their health.
How does chiropractic help so many people experience a healthy life? Chiropractic evaluates, restores, and maintains proper neurologic function. Your nervous system has a vital role in maintaining your health and proper function. Applying gentle and specific chiropractic adjustments removes interference to the nervous system, engages your body’s self healing capabilities, and encourages all of your body systems to function at their best. When your body is functioning at your best, it allows you to experience life to the fullest.
Subluxation
“Chiropractic is Concerned with the preservation and restoration of health, and focuses particular attention on the subluxation.
A subluxation is a complex of functional and/or structural and/or pathological articular changes that compromise neural integrity and may influence organ system function and general health.
A subluxation is evaluated, diagnosed, and managed through the use of chiropractic procedures based on the best available rational and empirical evidence.” -Association of Chiropractic Colleges
Science
Chiropractic is based on the principle that your nervous system controls and coordinates all of your body’s functions. Your brain and body have constant communication through your spinal cord and nervous system. It is your spine’s job to protect your nervous system, but if it becomes misaligned, or subluxated, through traumas, repetitive use, or different types of stress, it interferes with that communication. A subluxation can slow the speed of the impulses from your brain, decrease blood flow to the nervous system, and put your body in a state of stress. It is our job as your chiropractor to identify areas of subluxation, and to correct them to remove the interference to your nervous system. Without any interference, your nervous system is able to allow proper communication to all of your muscles, organs, tissues, and cells, allowing your body to function at its best.
Many people will say the reason most people go to a chiropractor is for pain. In our experience, we find that people can tolerate a great deal of pain, but will want to do something about it when it interferes with their lives. Chiropractic taps into your body’s innate potential to heal itself, allowing your body to function at its best. We thrive to help you be healthy and have the best quality of life.
Efficacy
Chiropractic serves more people and families without drugs or surgery than any other healthcare profession. Research demonstrates that chiropractic gets results for patients with back pain, neck pain, and headaches. More compelling research has also shown that chiropractic can be helpful in addressing many other conditions that one may not initially think are related to the spine, however when one understands that the nervous system helps coordinate all of your body systems, it makes sense. Some conditions that have been researched are: headaches, torticollis, colic, ear infections, constipation, incontinence, heart disease, asthma, ADHD, bed wetting, and infertility.
Safety
Chiropractic is one of the safest healing arts. Many studies have shown that spinal adjustments, when performed by a doctor of chiropractic, are rarely -if ever, associated with side effects. The most common side effect is mild soreness after the first adjustment, much like you experience when you work out for the first time in a long time. Your safety and comfort are important to us, that is why we will take a thorough history, perform a complete exam, and order any additional tests or imaging before we discuss the appropriate care and adjustments for your specific needs.
